Welcome Aboard,

This blog is all about Living On A Sailboat, Ann and I have been living on a sailboat since the 31st July 2001, since the launch of Ruffles Spray we have cruised France, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece with shorted outings to other places. It includes the building of Ruffles Spray, the ups and the downs, the good and the not so good.

The blog also chronicles two peoples dream of living aboard a sailing yacht cruising the Mediterranean Sea.  In 1993 it seemed a good idea  to build a yacht and then to sail the boat to the Med via the Bay of Biscay.

The thing was that we had never sailed before, never built a boat before, we knew nothing about sailing, boat building, fitting out, navigation or in fact all the stuff that goes into the making of a cruising yacht.

After five years building the hull and fitting it out and seven years cruising we think we know a little more now.  So this blog is about our experience of steel boat building, fitting out and cruising, and after reading many books on hull construction, dc electrics, power generating, fresh water systems, gas, toilets, engines, rig, paint systems, anti fouling etc. etc. these pages show what we found that worked and of course what did not work so well.

However, its only our opinion, comments of your experience are very welcome.

Ann & Mike
